Toni Alewine, Counseling Ministry

The purpose of this ministry to help people navigate the inevitable challenges of life that are the result of broken people living in a broken world.

A biblical worldview shapes Toni's approach to Christian Counseling. It is a process that relies on the application of biblical principles as the standard for how we interact with people, experience healthy relationships, and live as salt and light in a culture that is opposed to Christianity and the Bible.

Christian Counseling is a collaborative effort between counselor and counselee that is best described as a journey down a hope-filled road. The approach is practical and honors the way God has uniquely designed each of us without compromising the principles of, or changing the standard, of Scripture. Along the way it seeks to identify thinking and behaviors that are inconsistent with that standard and which cause emotional and relational turmoil.  It is immensely helpful for people walking through the challenges of life that include depression, grief, personal struggles, as well as marital and family issues.

Toni Alewine joined the staff at Westside Baptist in July 2018. She has a Bachelor of Science in Religion with a cognate in Christian Counseling and a minor in psychology from Liberty University. Toni has served in various ministries at Westside for over 25 years including nursery, Awana, Ladies Bible Study, and Sunday School. She grew up in the Augusta area and has been married to her high school sweetheart, Pete, for 44 years. They have 3 children, all of whom are married, 8 grandchildren, and 2 Goldendoodles.

Toni counts it a privilege to be on staff where she uses her gifts in the counseling ministry. She has a passion for people to live in the fullness of all Christ died to provide His image-bearers. That passion motivates Toni in her counseling, teaching endeavors, and ministry focus.
